Privacy Policy
Koral · Effective June 2026 · Last updated June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Koral handles information. Koral is developed and operated by Commits.Studio (“we”, “us”). It applies to the Koral iOS app and its related pages on commits.studio. Koral is designed so that your audio and text are processed only on your device and by the transcription provider you choose. We operate no servers that your content passes through, and we maintain no user accounts.
1.Who we are
Koral is published by Commits.Studio. For any privacy question, contact hey@commits.studio.
2.Information Koral processes
Audio you dictate. When you hold or tap the talk button, Koral records audio and sends it directly from your device to the transcription provider you have configured (currently Groq), authenticated with your own API key, solely to convert your speech into text. The recording is held only transiently and is deleted immediately after transcription; any residual temporary file is removed automatically.
Transcribed text. The resulting text is inserted into the app you are using. If you enable Cleanup, the text is also sent to your configured provider to correct grammar and remove filler before insertion.
Your API key. The key you enter is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device, used only to authenticate requests to your chosen provider, and is never transmitted to Commits.Studio.
Usage statistics. Counts such as words dictated are computed and stored locally on your device for your own reference. They are not transmitted off the device.
3.Information we collect
We collect none. Koral has no user accounts, no analytics or measurement SDKs, and no advertising identifiers. Because we operate no servers and perform no analytics, Commits.Studio does not receive, collect, or store your personal information. Koral does not track you across other apps or websites and therefore does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
4.Your transcription provider
Koral relies on a third-party transcription provider that you select and authenticate with your own key (currently Groq). When Koral sends your audio or text to that provider, the provider processes it under its own privacy policy and terms, as an independent controller of that data. Commits.Studio is not a party to that processing and does not receive your audio or text. If you are located outside the provider’s country, your data may be transferred to and processed elsewhere (for example, the United States). Please review your provider’s privacy policy before use: groq.com/privacy-policy.
5.Data sharing and sale
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we hold none. The only transmission of your content is the direct, user-initiated request from your device to the transcription provider you configured.
6.Data retention
Audio is retained only for the moment required to transcribe it, then deleted. Usage statistics remain on your device until you reset them in the app or delete the app. Your API key remains in the Keychain until you remove it in the app or uninstall Koral.
7.Security
Your API key is stored in the iOS Keychain. All network requests Koral makes are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Because your content is not stored on any server we control, there is no central store of your data to breach.
8.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to its processing (for example, under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California). Because Commits.Studio holds none of your personal data, there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase on your behalf; you control all on-device data directly by resetting statistics, removing your key, or uninstalling the app. For data processed by your transcription provider, please exercise those rights with that provider.
9.Children
Koral is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Koral changes. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
